When I was given a sketchbook of a brand that I hated for Christmas 2022, I made the decision to have fun with it anyway and paint in *every single page* with my watercolour and gouache. This was initially going to be part of the Sketchbook Best Painting Special, but I decided to showcase these two pieces separately since they have a deeper meaning.
I find that as I continue making art, I don’t want to shy away from depictions of my Christian faith and my walk in God. This includes being vulnerable about it too - and these two paintings depict my emotional and spiritual state after going through intense and redemptive prayer to process and let go of an intense trauma: a new, better and redeemed ending to one of the worst memories of my life at ten years old, rewritten by Jesus. I was 22 going on 23 at the time of painting these, so you could imagine the catharsis of it all.
